What does 24-410 thread mean and how do I know which cap fits my bottle?

The first number is the neck outer diameter in millimeters and the second is the thread finish. A cap fits only when both numbers match: a 24-410 cap is not interchangeable with a 24-415 even if the diameter is the same.
